A driver has died after hitting an embankment in Georgetown County

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – One person is dead following a Saturday morning crash near Pawleys Island.

The crash happened around 3:20 a.m. on Waterford Road near Highway 17.

According to Sgt.: A 2008 Chevrolet Corvette traveling eastbound ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment, overturned and then struck several trees. Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Tidwell said the driver died at the scene.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
