Documents show that inmates at the Harris County Jail in Texas are wanted by ICE

One in 10 inmates held at the Harris County Jail in Texas has US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) withheld, according to Fox News’ records request.

An ICE detainer or detainer is the notification to local law enforcement that ICE intends to detain an individual. The detention center is also requesting information from local officials about the suspect’s release date and asking officers to hold the suspect for a maximum of 48 hours so that ICE can take custody.

There are currently 9,527 inmates in the Harris County Jail and 1,170 of them are in ICE custody, and their cases are costing taxpayers as they work their way through the court system.

Fox News data shows that as of September, 174 ICE detainees are linked to sexual assault cases, more than half of which involve children under 14.

Among them, there are 75 murder cases, including 22 capital murders.

This includes two undocumented Venezuelan migrants charged with capital murder, sexual assault and kidnapping in connection with the death of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, whose mother loudly blamed Biden-Harris open borders policy.

Another suspect in this case is 32-year-old Osman Estanly Solorzano Sanchez. According to ICE officials, Sanchez is an illegal immigrant from Honduras.

Sanchez is accused of murdering 27-year-old Ricardo Vega, a father of two, in an April road accident. According to police, before he was shot, Vega called 911 and told dispatchers he was following a road burglary suspect who was armed with a gun, and also provided his driver’s license and a description of his car.

Fox News spoke with his mother, Victoria Garcia, who shared a photo of her son that she saved on her phone as a contact photo – it shows him wearing his hat backwards and smiling. “That’s a call I’ll never answer again,” she said.

“He has a 9-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son who now have to grow up without their dad,” Garcia said. – And my daughter-in-law must be without a husband.

Garcia, a Mexican-American whose parents immigrated to the United States, said she understands the importance of immigration and the pursuit of a better life.

“I understand, you know,” Garcia said. “But they need to know who they allow to enter our country, our country for which we work every day and for which we pay taxes. I didn’t ask for this. Ricardo didn’t ask to be killed. I didn’t ask for my son to be murdered. This is a decision that Osman, an illegal citizen of Honduras, decided to make himself.”

Garcia says her son loved cooking and fishing, and his contagious smile lit up the room. He promises he won’t give up as the case moves through the legal system.

“Ricardo is not here to fight his fight,” Garcia says. “But his mom did. I don’t want the Ricardo case to be another Houston scandal. I don’t want the Ricardo case to be swept under the rug. I will fight for Ricardo.”
