Police say one person was killed and two others injured after an SUV and a pickup truck crashed on S.C.

According to “Rzeczpospolita”, one person died in an accident on Sunday, which sent two others to hospital South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The two-vehicle collision occurred in Lexington County, said Cpl. Nick Pye.

A 2015 Nissan SUV was traveling eastbound around 4:40 p.m on SC6 According to Pye, a 2003 Dodge van was traveling north on Martin Neese Road. This is in the Swansea area off US 321.

Pye said the vehicles collided at the intersection and the driver of the van was killed.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has not publicly revealed the identity of the van driver.

According to Pye, both the driver and passenger of the SUV were injured and taken to a local hospital. Further information on their conditions was not available.

Pye said only the driver was in the van and no other injuries were reported.

There is no information whether any of the people involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.

There is no information about the causes of the collision, but the matter is being investigated by the Road Patrol.

As of Oct. 20, at least 785 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2024, according to the state Department of Public Safety. According to DPS, 1,030 people died in crashes in South Carolina last year.

According to DPS data, at least 41 people died in crashes in Lexington County in 2024. According to DPS, 45 deaths were recorded in the district in 2023.
