TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – We are remembering a bicyclist and Florida State University student nearly two weeks after he was struck and killed in north Tallahassee.

FSU philosophy student Jan-Felix Müller died days after the Oct. 17 crash in the area of ​​E. Call Street and N. Monroe Street, according to Tallahassee police.

A police news release said that just before 3 p.m., officers responded to an accident involving a vehicle and a cyclist, later identified as Müller.

Initial information shows that Müller was driving at a pedestrian crossing when, according to police, the driver of the vehicle ran a red light and hit him.

A police press release states that Müller suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. However, a few days later he died in hospital from his injuries.

Black Dog Cafe employees remember Müller, saying he was a positive person who cared about others.

According to TPD, the driver who hit Müller was fined for running a red light.

Our Staci Inez reached out to the State Attorney’s Office for comment on the case and whether charges are being considered, but has not heard back.

The community calls for tougher penalties for people who hit cyclists.
