San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters on a conference call on Monday, a day after the team’s 30-24 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, and provided some health updates.

Starting with players sidelined before the game, Shanahan noted that the team is still pushing for the opening Christian McCaffreynext week during the practice window with the hopes that the star will be back on the field in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, this plan is dependent on his progress this week.

“He hasn’t had any setbacks, so it looks like we’re on the right track, but this week while we’re out, he’s going to push it hard and kind of simulate drills for himself,” Shanahan explained. Hopefully, if all goes well, we’ll be back training next week.”

Regarding the decision to place McCaffrey on injured reserve, which sidelined him for much of the season, Shanahan explained: “We knew it would take at least a month, so we shut him down for a while. And now” I am slowly rebuilding it. Everything is going well, so hopefully it will be nice to have him back now.”

When asked about McCaffrey’s workload upon her return, Shanahan focused on a cautious approach.

“We expect to see how he behaves when he returns and then evaluate him on an ongoing basis,” Shanahan said. “I mean, of course, I hope everything goes back to normal and everything will be perfect. We all strive for this, but we have to play it wisely and evaluate whether each of us understands what we see with our own eyes every day and what it tells us. This will be something we continue to work on.”

McCaffrey has yet to play this season after being benched with Achilles tendinitis.

Jennings was expected to return

Shanahan is also expecting a winger Jauan Jenningswho missed the last two games with a hip injury, will return after the bye week.

Injuries after the Cowboys game

As for the injuries suffered in Sunday’s game, Shanahan confirmed the defender’s presence Dee Winters He is in the concussion protocol.

Running back Jordan Mason he re-aggravated his Week 6 shoulder injury as a winger Deebo Samuel permanent rib and oblique stresses. Both players will be re-evaluated after the bye week.

Corner Renardo the Green He suffered a sprained ankle and currently plays as a winger Chris Conley week after week he struggles with a hamstring injury.

Shanahan also commented on the cornerback Charvarius Branchthe player’s short exit from Sunday’s match: “I think he played his best football in the last two weeks. During one of his rides, he developed a slight tightness in his groin and had to get it checked out. But there were no problems, so he returned to the game. Thin.”

There is no Greenlaw update yet

Asked about linebacker Dre Greenlawrecovering from an Achilles tear she suffered during February’s Super Bowl, Shanahan did not provide a final timeline, indicating the situation remains fluid.

“We’re talking about a lot of things and he’s working on it, but I don’t want to give you a rough timeline because we’re not really sure,” Shanahan said. “When we get back to work after this bye week, I think he will be making a decision from week to week as to whether we should put him back on a training contract or not.

“We’ll see how it goes next week, we’ll see when we come back from the bye week and I think once the bye week is over we’ll be wondering every week whether we should take him back with us or not because it’s getting closer.”
