David Chambers has lived in the area for 31 years.

He and another neighbor told FOX 5 they heard three shots.

“I said to my city hall manager who lives next door to me, ‘Remember the statement I made at the city hall meeting a few weeks ago regarding the fact that the problem is only going to get worse?’ One kill here. There was a murder here less than a year ago in this building or something similar. Four weeks ago. “I didn’t hear a bang, a bang… and tires screeching, anytime between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.,” Chambers said.

Although Morningside police said it was an isolated incident, people living and working in the area said they took little comfort in seeing or hearing about any incidents of violence.

“It’s a tragedy. That’s sad. I don’t know why people feel like they do what they do. It’s not right because you shoot and you may end up hurting an innocent child or someone else,” said one of the LIS 5 women.

Chambers said he and other neighbors have growing concerns about violence in the area.

“My message is: consider my house your home, also the homes of your younger brothers and sisters who may have to go to school in the morning. Remember what it means, good and evil. Do not do evil. Don’t do this. do wrong. It hurts everyone in the large peripheral group,” he said.

Prince George’s County authorities said Monday that investigators have identified all parties involved in Saturday’s incident and are cooperating with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office on the investigation.

As of now, no charges have been brought against any of the participants.
