Cardinals activate rookie DL Darius Robinson from IR

The Cardinals activated rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson from injured reserve on Monday, according to NFL trades.

“We’ll take it day by day with him and just work with him every day and hopefully get better every day and see where it goes,” coach Jonathan Gannon said on Monday’s Arizona Sports radio spot.

The Cardinals had an open roster spot, so no corresponding move was necessary.

Robinson returned to practice on Oct. 9, forcing the Cardinals to take action to get him back on the 53-man roster by Wednesday.

The first-round draft pick suffered a calf injury in practice on August 22 and was placed on injured reserve the following week. He also cannot cope with his mother’s death.

His return will give the Cardinals a boost on their defensive line. They lost starters Bilal Nichols and Justin Jones this year, and Roy Lopez, Khyiris Tonga and Naquan Jones have all dealt with injury issues this season.
