One person has died in a house fire in Maple Bay

At least one person died Monday morning in a house fire in Maple Bay, near Duncan.

Crews from North Cowichan, Maple Bay, Crofton and Chemainus responded to a fire in the 1600 block of Maple Bay Road in North Cowichan around 9:30 a.m.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP have confirmed that at least one person has died in the fire. They said the investigation is ongoing and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
