The mother convicted in a fatal crash on the Kansas Turnpike has denied a new trial

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A Topeka woman convicted in a 2022 crash that killed three children has been denied a new trial.

Amber Peery was sentenced in August this year for unintentional manslaughter and assault with particular cruelty Outage in October 2022 It happened when she tried to make an illegal turn on the Kansas Turnpike. Three children died in the crash, including Peery’s daughter. Peery and two other children in the vehicle were injured.

Peery filed a motion for a new trial or acquittal on the grounds that she was not solely responsible for the wreck or that she made a reckless decision to change. The court disagreed and, according to Shawnee Co. District Court records. On October 12, he rejected both applications.

The verdict will be announced on November 22.
