Knoxville police say a motorcyclist is dead after a crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A motorcyclist is dead Monday after a crash on W. Martin Mill Pike, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

KPD’s Scott Erland said officers responded to the crash near Chapman Highway around 5:45 p.m. The driver, a man, hit a telephone pole, Erland said.

Erland said investigators believe at this point he left the road for an unknown reason and struck a pole.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
