Last US election: Harris interrupted by protesters during rally; Trump insists he’s ‘not a Nazi’ | US news

Barack Obama returns to the campaign for Kamala Harris today – this time appearing in Philadelphia.

He makes fun of Donald Trump, saying he posts on social media “at all hours of the night” and when he’s not “complaining, he’s trying to sell you something.”

“He wants to sell you the Trump Bible… he couldn’t recite a single verse, but he will sell you this Bible,” he adds.

The crowd begins booing before the former president interrupts them.

“Don’t boo, vote,” he says. “No one hears your booing, but they hear your voices.”

Given Trump’s past, he asks supporters if they think he’s ever changed a flat tire.

“If he gets a flat tire, he keeps the chauffeur,” he jokes, drawing laughter from the audience.

Obama tells crowd that Trump is trying to divide the country to “increase his chances.”

Recounting Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden yesterday, during which several speakers made racist and vulgar remarks, Obama says: “If someone doesn’t respect you, if someone doesn’t see you as fellow citizens with an equal opportunity to pursue happiness, the American dream, you should not be vote for them.”

“Kamala Harris is ready to go”

Urging people to vote for Ms Harris, Obama says she is “ready to be” US president.

Talking about her middle-class background and Trump’s recent McDonald’s campaign stunt, she says Harris actually worked at the fast food restaurant to pay her college bills.

“She didn’t pretend she just worked at McDonald’s,” he says.

“If you choose Kamala Harris, she will see you, she will hear you, she will support you every day.

“He knows what it’s like to fight, work hard and look from the outside.”
