Driver injured after crash involving pickup truck, trailer on US 60 in Apache Junction

APACHE JUNCTION, AZ (AZ Family) — A portion of U.S. 60 in the East Valley was closed for several hours after a serious crash Monday afternoon.

The collision occurred just after 1 p.m. on the eastern lane of the street US 60 near Meridian Road. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a westbound pickup truck towing a trailer with cut pipes flips the trailer over the median.

DPS says the trailer then collided with an eastbound car, seriously injuring the driver.

Video from the AZFamily news helicopter shows a pickup truck, trailer and sedan with heavy damage.

Eastbound traffic on Signal Butte Road was diverted until lanes reopened around 4 p.m.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
