One person died in a head-on accident west of Nowe Miasto

MCKENZIE COUNTY, N.D. (KMOT) – A Nevada man was killed and a South Dakota man was seriously injured in a crash between a pickup truck and a semi west of New Town Monday morning.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the pickup truck was traveling west on Highway 23, about 26 miles west of New Town, around 8:15 a.m.

Investigators said the driver of the pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound semi-trailer.

The pickup driver suffered fatal injuries. The semi-driver was seriously injured. Their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A section of the highway near the scene was closed for about four hours while crews worked to clear the road.
