ME identifies remains found by people mowing grass in remote West Side fields

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man whose body was found in a field on west San Antonio.

The man was identified as 60-year-old Richard Reyna, according to the medical examiner’s office. The cause and manner of his death are under investigation.

Reyna’s remains were found Oct. 22 in a field off U.S. Highway 90 at Pue Road, less than a mile from Loop 1604.

According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, the property owners were mowing the grass near a ditch when they saw an unidentified object. As they got closer to it, they realized it was a human skull.

The property owners go out to the field every year to mow the grass, but they didn’t see Reyna’s remains last year.

BCSO believes Reyna’s remains may have been on the property for several years since they were whitewashed.

Anyone with information about Reyna’s death is asked to contact BCSO at 210-335-6000.
