The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) has directed all 12 special schools for disabled students to ensure strict implementation of the regulations laid down by the Inclusive Education Branch (IEB).

In its decision of October 22, the Department of Energy asked the principals of these schools to submit an action taken report (ATR) by November 5.

Strengthening inclusive education

According to the order, these activities are aimed at ensuring compliance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016 and the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The statement said the principals of the 12 special schools are committed to complying with all 19 regulations ensuring inclusive education, which include concessions in admission to relevant classes, the availability of online assessments, the offer of free aids and devices, the availability of smart classrooms, the provision of special skills training communication and language skills, including Braille and sign language.

Additionally, schools should prepare structured lesson plans for special education teachers, maintain records of disability and Unique Disability Identifiers (UDID) for all students, conduct detailed case studies for each student and provide regular assessments, she said.

“Schools are also required to create appropriate facilities, including recreation rooms, multi-purpose rooms, emergency rooms and break areas, to meet physical, psychological, medical and social needs, as well as install CCTV cameras for children with disabilities,” he added. statement noted.
