Maharashtra: A man fatally stabs a woman for rejecting his advances in Thane and injures her sister

The accused attacked the woman with a kitchen knife at her house in Bhiwandi, angered by her refusal, and fled the scene after injuring her sister.

On Tuesday, police said a man allegedly stabbed a 23-year-old woman for rejecting his advances and injured her sister in Thane district of Maharashtra.

The attack took place at the woman’s house in Bhadwad village in Bhiwandi on Monday morning, an official said.

The woman knew the accused, Raju Mahendra Singh (24). They belonged to the same village in Uttar Pradesh and were neighbors, said inspector Atul Adurkar of Shanti Nagar police station.

The victim rejected the defendant’s advances and added that he was angry about the rejection.

According to officers, the accused entered the woman’s home around 11:15 a.m. and repeatedly stabbed her with a kitchen knife until she fell.

He said the man also attacked and injured the woman’s sister who came to her rescue, he said, adding that the accused fled the scene and was absconding.

The police were then alerted and the body was taken to a government hospital in Bhiwandi for post-mortem, the official said.

Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s father, the police registered a case under sections 103 (murder), 333 (house entering after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful confinement) and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Police Nyay Sanhita and the Maharashtra Act, he said.
