Family and friends are mourning a woman who was fatally injured at Derby Airport

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Grieving family and friends are remembering fondly a 37-year-old Wichita woman who died at a Wichita hospital from injuries sustained after striking a moving airplane propeller Saturday at Derby Airport.

People close to Amanda Gallagher say she was a fearless and creative person. Gallagher was at Cook Airport on Saturday photographing skydivers when she was fatally injured. Her business partner, Tori Tong, said that from the moment she met Gallagher, she knew she was special.

“She stood out to me. She was just a very caring person who always tried to make people smile and laugh, and I was naturally drawn to her energy,” Tong said.

Gallagher’s friends say she was a person who united those around her.

“She really was a beacon, a beacon in my life. She left notes for everyone in the kitchen: “Remember, if you can dream it, you can achieve it,” “Small steps are better than no steps,” “Trust the process,” “You create the world.” better place. She was filling up entire notebooks and people were interacting with her, just taking care of people she didn’t even know, people she didn’t even see,” Tong said.

Tong said Gallagher wanted to make the most of the little things.

“She had a vision, she noticed things that other people didn’t usually see, and she was able to capture the essence of the moment,” Tong said. “I have lots of photos of him stopping to take pictures of flowers, bees and leaves on the ground. She was very involved in everything.
