Man City are plotting Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala is moving and Guardiola is planning a major squad overhaul

Manchester City are planning for the future despite their ongoing legal battle with the Premier League and according to TEAMtalk sources, they have named Florian Wirtz as their top transfer target.

Cityzens are currently in limbo awaiting a verdict on alleged 115 breaches of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules.

If found guilty, City of ManPotential penalties for him include a fine, a transfer ban, points deduction and even expulsion from the top flight.

The club has consistently maintained its innocence and continues to plan its transfer business as usual with a blockbuster move Wirtz not excluded.

Sources have revealed to TEAMtalk that Man City’s recruitment bosses see Wirtz as a perfect fit for Pep Guardiola’s system.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has played a key role in Bayer Leverkusen’s recent successes and is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in football.

We understand that Leverkusen are aware that they could lose Wirtz next summer due to growing interest in him, but will demand a hefty fee for his services.

Man City are eyeing Wirtz and Musiala – sources

Sources have revealed to TEAMtalk that Leverkusen will need to submit an offer of at least £90 million to even consider selling Wirtz next summer. He has a contract until 2027, so the German side has all the negotiating power.

There is no doubt that Man City are one of the clubs closely monitoring Wirtz’s situation. The Premier League champions have made contact with the player’s agents in a bid to gauge his interest in a potential move to the Etihad.

However, Wirtz is not alone on Man City’s transfer shortlist. TEAMtalk can confirm that Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala is also admired by the club.

We have revealed this before Guardiola is a big fan of Musiala and Man City regularly send scouts to watch the attacking midfielder in action.

Musiala, who started his career in Chelsea’s academy, may prove to be even more difficult to acquire than Wirtz, but Bayern Munich are clear that they are building a team in order to plan their team around him and have him as a star for many years.

She had to and Wirtz performed brilliantly at Euro 2024 and showed why the German national team is so excited to have them in their ranks.

Chelsea are also keeping a close eye on Musiala. They have a long-term relationship with the 21-year-old and he has strong friendships with some of the players at Stamford Bridge.

Musiala would be significantly more expensive than Wirtz, however, and with the Premier League’s tight PSR restrictions, it is unclear whether either team will be able to foot the bill.

Man City will NOT be able to sign both players and Wirtz is a more likely signing for Man City as things stand as he will demand a lower transfer fee.

Man City transfer news: Will Ruben Dias leave? / The new guardian looked

Meanwhile, sources suggest that a number of Man City’s key stars could leave to make way for a new era at the club, with center back Ruben Dias among those in line to leave.

As we revealed on Monday, the defender is enjoying great interest from clubs from the Premier League and across Europe.

We understand that Chelsea are among the clubs closely monitoring Dias’ situation may be tempted to make a bold move if available.

The Blues view the 27-year-old’s vast experience as a potentially invaluable addition to their young squad, which could once again become a serial trophy contender.

However, Dias is under contract until 2027 and Man City are set to demand a hefty fee for his services – significantly higher than the £65m they paid to sign him in 2020.

In other news, Man City are scouring the market for a new goalkeeper amid uncertainty around Ederson, who remains a key target for Saudi Pro League clubs.

It was claimed that Guardiola’s team had identified Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa as a potential replacement for Ederson.

Apparently, around 45 million euros (37.5 million pounds / 48.6 million dollars) would be enough to sign a contract with Costa, but Barcelona is ready to compete with Man City for his signature.
