Heartspring remembers a “valued colleague” who died in an accident involving a stolen vehicle

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – 12 News learns more about a a woman who died on Monday in a stolen vehicle accident.

The crash occurred at 29th and Wilderness streets, near Webb Road. Mandy Buckwalter, 43, of Hutchinson, died at the scene.

Heartspring said Buckwalter worked as a home health aide at the organization’s therapeutic school. Heartspring is a nonprofit organization that helps children with special needs and developmental disabilities.

Heartspring stated that Buckwalter was a “valued colleague who made a lasting difference in the lives of the children” she cared for through Heartspring.

“We are grateful that during our three years at Heartspring we were able to experience her warmth, commitment and true spirit. Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time,” the statement concluded.

Wichita police have arrested a woman accused of driving a stolen vehicle that hit Buckwalter. A man was also arrested in connection with the case.
