The report said Walz had a “secret affair” with the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party official

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz had a “secret affair” with the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official in 1989, according to Minnesota Gov. TheDailyMail.com.

The relationship allegedly occurred while Governor Walz was teaching in China and before he became governor. Jenna Wang, the daughter of CCP official Bin Hui, reportedly told the newspaper that Walz “showered her with gifts” while he was there.

Each reportedly struggled to keep their relationship secret due to Chinese cultural norms and Governor Walz’s desire not to risk being associated with the CCP. Apparently, because of this, Wang began to wonder whether they would ever get married.

However, Walz never proposed, according to TheDailyMail.com. Wang reportedly said that the relationship left her feeling “like a prostitute”, which led her to anger and suicidal thoughts.

“Tim was passionate and romantic,” Wang reportedly said of Governor Walz. “I still remember dancing with him to our favorite song, Careless Whisper. The fact that we couldn’t touch or kiss each other in public made it even more exciting and intense when we were finally alone.”

We were very much in love, I wanted to marry him and start a family,” she reportedly said. “When that didn’t happen, I felt very unhappy and sad. Tim’s behavior was very selfish.”

Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida said Monday that the story could derail the governor’s hopes of reaching the White House.

“If the story reported today in @DailyMail is true, Tim Walz was in a relationship with the daughter of a senior Chinese Communist Party official and has been in contact with her for years,” he wrote. “If you aspire to be vice president of the United States, voters deserve to know everything about any connections you have with the CCP.”

Harris’ campaign did not respond to The National News Desk’s request for comment on the accusations.

Since joining Harris’ mandate, Governor Walz’s time in China has come under scrutiny, in part due to the governor’s false claims. He previously falsely claimed to have visited Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square protests.

Governor Walz called himself a “retard,” referring to this claim during the vice presidential debate with Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio.

The House Oversight Committee in September condemned the FBI for allegedly avoiding investigations into Governor Walz’s ties to the CCP.

“The FBI told the Commission that the Bureau’s Foreign Influence Task Force is investigating this type of CCP activity,” it said. “The Committee is concerned that Mr. Walz’s involvement with Chinese entities and officials may have allowed the CCP to influence his decision-making as a congressman and governor and would potentially allow the CCP to influence the White House if Mr. Walz is elected vice president.”
