The former Pittsburgh Steelers standout WR was traded to the Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are trading for their former running back Pittsburgh Steelers According to multiple reports, winger Diontae Johnson. Johnson will join the Ravens, joining a wide receiving corps of Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman for Lamar Jackson. The Carolina Panthers in exchange for Johnson, he will receive a fifth-round draft pick and for the Ravens, a sixth-round pick.

Johnson is in the final year of his contract and will be a free agent in March. The Steelers couldn’t trade Johnson after dealing him to the Panthers in March because of an NFL rule that prohibits a team that traded a player from getting him back in another trade within two years of the trade.

Johnson produced, among others, Panthers despite suboptimal quarterback play from Andy Dalton and Bryce Young. He missed Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos with a rib injury.

The Ravens, Buffalo Bills, New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs all made trades for top wide receivers at the trade deadline. Pittsburgh, which has needed a winger since trading Johnson in March, may seem like the next team in line, but options are quickly dwindling.
