Two brothers in Colorado are devastated after their parents and two sisters were killed in a weekend car crash.

Thornton Police Department – he stated in a press release shared on the X website (formerly known as Twitter) that a speeding Subaru struck a Ford SUV carrying four victims on Saturday, October 26 at approximately 7:30 p.m. local time, “causing the fuel tank to rupture and ignite.” A third vehicle, a Chrysler pickup truck, was also hit.”

Francisco Díaz, Beatriz Núñez and their daughters Paola Díaz (15 years old) and Nataly Díaz (10 years old) died in the fire, KKTV, a CBS subsidiary AND ABC affiliate, KMGH reported.

Meanwhile, police said the Subaru driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. The driver of the Chrysler was not injured. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Brothers Daniel and Adam Díaz, who were not in the car at the time of the accident, are still reeling from their deaths. “We feel lost. We don’t even know what the next step will be,” Daniel told KMGH-TV. “It doesn’t even feel real yet.”

According to KKTV and KMGH, their parents and sisters went to Walmart after visiting the church on October 26.

“None of them were actually answering the phone, so that’s when I went over there,” Adam told KKTV. “I got there quite quickly, but everything was already in flames. There was nothing they could do.”

“It just didn’t seem real to me. I really just hoped it was a nightmare,” he added.

According to KKTV, the brothers, who lived in the house with their family, said they were close. Now the brothers say they are grateful to at least have each other.

“(It’s hard) knowing that this time I’m going to leave and come home and my mom (and my mother) won’t be waiting for me,” Daniel told the station.

AND GoFundMe was founded to help brothers with funeral expenses and more. As of Tuesday, October 29, the fundraiser had raised over $67,000.

The organizer wrote: “Amidst unimaginable grief, these two young survivors need our help to support them at this difficult time.”
