Panchkula: Two accused, including a woman, were arrested in connection with Rs 82 lakh cyber fraud case committed on behalf of digital arrest. However, it has not yet been possible to trace the originator of the case or the people involved in the telephone conversation. The police claimed that they would soon be arrested. The detained perpetrators were identified as: Mukesh Kumar Singla AND Suman Raniboth residents of Muktsar Sahib.
According to information, a complaint was filed by a retired army officer on October 15 after he received a voice call from an unknown number. “He was threatened that a mobile phone number given in his name was being used to conduct criminal activities. “The cyber criminals then called from different numbers impersonating a fake police sub-inspector, a cyber cell officer and a CBI officer and locked the victim and her wife in the house for around two days continuously, saying that they had been digitally arrested,” he said. police officer.
“The cybercriminals did not allow the victim to go anywhere, remaining in contact with him via video call. Whenever the victim went to the bank to transfer money, he was constantly connected via video calls,” police said. After receiving the complaint, a case was registered at the Cyber ​​Police Headquarters. Taking further steps in the case, the accused and the accused were arrested.
ACP Manpreet Singh Sudan said that investigation so far has revealed that the amounts obtained through cyber fraud were transferred to 77 bank accounts.
