Bonnabel High School student accused of molesting boys and posting child porn in Kenner

KENNER, La. (WVUE) – A 17-year-old Bonnabel High School student is charged with sex crimes involving young boys after he was arrested Monday evening (October 28) at a Kenner campground.

Kenner police say officers responded to a call just after 7 p.m., charging Luis Renan Bonilla-Alfaro with child molestation in the Airline Oaks Trailer Park parking lot.

After the teenager’s arrest, police say he confessed to molesting a 4- and 7-year-old boy.

Kenner police obtained a search warrant for the teen’s phone, which authorities said contained sexually explicit photos and videos of Bonilla-Alfaro and two children, as well as a third, still unidentified boy.

“I consider this individual to be a serial sex offender based on the actions of these three children that he documented for whatever reason,” said Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley.

Bonilla-Alfaro was booked on charges of first-degree rape, two counts of sexual battery, two counts of pornographic material involving minors under the age of 13 and two counts of indecent behavior with a minor

Police confirmed that Bonilla-Alfaro is a student at Bonnabel High and a resident of the trailer park where he was arrested. Investigators said they believe he befriended families with young children in a caravan to victimize them.

“We haven’t heard any rumors that anything is happening to the kids,” a neighbor of the trailer park told Fox 8.

Conley says Bonilla-Alfaro is currently in ICE custody after authorities determined he was in the United States illegally from Honduras. ICE has not yet confirmed to Fox 8 when the teen entered the country or how.

This is the second minor sexual assault case this year involving the Airline Oaks trailer park. Last month, police arrested 23-year-old Diego Rodriguez-Salvador on suspicion of kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old girl in a trailer park.

Rodriguez-Salvador is also undocumented and entered the U.S. illegally.

“Thank God they arrested (Bonilla-Alfaro), they got him and I hope they do what they have to do with him,” the neighbor told Fox 8.

Kenner police are asking other potential victims of Bonilla-Alfaro to come forward by calling the department or leaving an anonymous tip with Crimestoppers.

Kenner Police employs bilingual officers and 911 operators to assist Spanish-speaking neighbors who wish to report.
