Yankees fans rip the ball out of Mookie Betts’ glove in a wild interference play

Two Yankees fans drew social media ire in the first round Game 4 With World Series against Los Angeles Dodgers.

Gleyber Torres singled the ball to right field for Mookie Betts he ran to try to play. He caught the ball and the fan grabbed Betts’ glove to keep it in the air and stuck his hand inside to try to get the ball out. Betts reached out to try to remove the fan’s hand from his glove, but another person moved in and grabbed Betts’ right wrist. The ball was snatched away while Betts was pinned.

Torres was recalled due to fan interference.

AND video posted on social media showed two committed fans being escorted from their seats.

Many people on X have expressed their opinions about fans’ meddling in the Betts case.

This wasn’t the first time Betts was on the phone regarding fan interference. In the 2021 American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros, Betts — then with Boston Red Sox he jumped up to catch himself against the wall, but the fan closed the gauntlet which would have been a Jose Altuve home run.

The first inning of a win-or-go-home Game 4 was a tough one for New York. Freddie Freeman hit another home run to start the scoring for the Dodgers become the first Major League Baseball player to hit a home run in six straight World Series games.
