Kamala Harris delivers her closing remarks in Washington

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her closing campaign speech in Washington on Tuesday and said that on Election Day, voters had a choice between “a country rooted in freedom… or a country ruled by chaos and division.” “

During the vice president’s rally, she urged Americans to “turn the page” on the Trump era.

“You will have the opportunity to make a decision that will directly impact your life, the life of your family and the future of this country we love,” she said. “And it will probably be the most important vote you ever cast.”

The rally was held at the Ellipse, a park south of the White House where the former president addressed his supporters before they marched on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“We know who Donald Trump is,” the vice president said. “This is the person who stood in this place almost four years ago and sent an armed mob to the United States Capitol to overturn the will of the people in a free and fair election.”

More than 75,000 supporters showed up at the rally, according to Harris’ campaign.

One of them was Cody Ingraham, who saw holding the rally at the Ellipse as symbolic of the campaign.

“The same place where the Stop the Steal rally was held at the end of Trump’s term. “I think that for me personally, the fight to save democracy is the most important issue on the table,” he said.

Virginia resident Anika Elias also attended the rally because she wanted to show her support for Harris and disapproval of the former president.

“It’s really important for me to attend this rally because I think Donald Trump is one of the worst things that has ever happened to this country,” Elias said. “And I think Kamala Harris has very practical solutions and really great policies and is a great leader.”

Although Harris spent most of the speech contrasting herself with former President Trump, she also mentioned her policies for the nation if elected.

“My presidency will be different because the challenges we face are different. Our top priority as a nation four years ago was ending the pandemic and saving the economy. Now our biggest challenge is to reduce costs that were rising even before the pandemic and are still too high. I understand that,” she said.

Other priorities Harris discussed included protecting women’s reproductive rights, working to pass the bipartisan border security bill that failed in Congress earlier this year, tax cuts for working people and the middle class, allowing Medicare to cover home care costs and strengthening Global America’s leadership.

Harris also pledged to work across the aisle and listen to those who disagree with her.
