COVINGTON, Ky. (WXIX) – The Driver Who Was found guilty He was convicted on Tuesday for killing a man in an accident that occurred in December 2023.

Kenton County District Judge Patricia Summe sentenced the 42-year-old Christopher Jackson to 35 years in prison for the murder of Gordon Torline.

In January, a grand jury found Jackson guilty of murder, DUI and other charges in Torline’s death.

On December 22, 2023, Jackson collided with Torline’s vehicle on Industrial Road in Florence around 4:00 p.m.

Officers found Jackson walking on the road near his Lincoln MKT and Torline unconscious under his Mazda sedan.

Emergency crews had to cut Torline out from under the dashboard. After his release, he was flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

At the scene of the accident, officers noticed that Jackson smelled of alcohol, was slurring his words and did not follow commands.

Prosecutors say Jackson’s blood-alcohol concentration was 0.241, three times the legal limit in Kentucky.

In a joint investigation, Independence police and the Kenton County Major Crash Reconstruction Team determined that Jackson struck the curb with his passenger tires and then left the lane.

Jackson’s vehicle then entered the Torline lane, causing the crash, police said.

Additionally, police say Jackson was driving 99 mph in a 45 mph zone.
