NYPD officer injured when suspect runs into him during pursuit

An NYPD officer’s leg was injured Tuesday when a driver crashed into him in Brooklyn after cops tried to pull the man over for driving without a license plate, police said.

Around 9:30 p.m., officers spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it Forbell St. and Sutter Ave.. But instead of stopping, the 25-year-old driver accelerated toward one of the officers, injuring his leg, cops say.

The officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition; According to the police, the driver was detained and is in custody.

According to a Daily News police source, one of the officers fired his gun but did not hit anything. The NYPD did not immediately confirm those details.
