Man arrested for brutal assault in Naples: Family dispute over stabbing

Last night, carabinieri of Naples Vomero’s operational unit and PMZ arrested Vincenzo Rongo, a 46-year-old from the Spanish Quarter, already known to law enforcement, for serious bodily injury caused by the use of edged weapons. The events are similar to those that took place yesterday in via Morghen, when a 21-year-old man was stabbed five times by an unknown person. The hypothesis of an attack for communication purposes has been ruled out. An investigation conducted by the army, coordinated by the Naples prosecutor’s office, showed that the two protagonists of the incident knew each other. The attack appears to be caused by family disputes. The victim – discharged from Cardarella with a prognosis of 15 days due to multiple stab wounds to his limbs – would not have recognized the 46-year-old covered with a helmet. The suspect, identified thanks to the analysis of valuable images from the surveillance system, was found at Pellegrini Hospital, where he went for treatment of minor cuts, probably related to the morning’s incident. The clothes in which the 46-year-old traveled via Morghen were found and secured.
