Driver crashes after Chesterfield Twp. police chase

Chesterfield Township police arrested a driver wanted for fleeing and eluding Warren officers Tuesday and initiated a pursuit.

Chesterfield Township police said in a statement that Warren, 24, was traveling alone in the vehicle when it crashed after fleeing from officers.

Police did not release the suspect’s name.

According to the release, city officials first saw a man in a car at 10:38 p.m. Tuesday driving east on Interstate 94, north of Rosso Highway.

He allegedly fled east from officers who tried to detain him.

The release says officers managed to flatten two of the car’s tires using stop sticks before the driver attempted to exit I-94 onto 23 Mile Road, lost control of the vehicle on the exit ramp and went off the road.

Officers provided assistance at the scene to a man who was injured as a result of the accident. Emergency services, along with Medstar Ambulance, transported him to McLaren Macomb Hospital for treatment of injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening.

The department said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The incident comes weeks after a Monroe man who led Michigan State Police and Monroe County sheriff’s deputies on a 45-minute car chase was arrested. arrested– officials said.

According to Michigan State Police, a total of 23 people died and 148 were seriously injured in Michigan between October 22 and 29.

The total of 865 deaths and 4,666 serious injuries so far in 2024 is still less than the combined totals for both categories in 2023.
