A sexual assault suspect “unexpectedly” turned himself in to the police

PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) – Police say a Paragould man accused of sexual assault “suddenly” turned himself in.

On Monday, October 28, the victim reported that Christopher Upchurch had sexually assaulted her.

“The victim made statements to police that amount to second-degree sexual assault,” Detective Corporal Tron Beasley said in a statement.

Later that day, Beasley said Upchurch “unexpectedly arrived at the police station and stated that he wanted to turn himself in to the police for committing sexual assault.”

Court documents show that further investigation and interrogations confirmed the victim’s testimony.

Upchurch was booked into the Greene County Detention Center at 9:54 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, without bond.
