Eagles injury report: Updates on Darius Slay, Mekhi Becton and Dallas Goedert ahead of game against Jags

PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles have returned to the field in preparation for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and it looks like they may be without three key players.

The player most likely to return against the Jags is the right-back Mekhi Becton, who missed Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering a concussion during the Eagles’ Week victory over the New York Giants. Tyler Steen has done an outstanding job filling in for Becton, who has missed time in three different games this season.

However, Becton returned to the field on Wednesday.

The same cannot be said for tight Dallas Goedert and corner Darius Slay.

Goedert suffered a hamstring injury after just three snaps in the Eagles’ game against the Browns and has not appeared on the field since. The Eagles opted not to place the veteran on the injured reserve team in hopes that he would not have an extended absence, but he could miss his third straight game. Grant Calcaterra started the game in his place and had the most productive football of his career, catching eight passes for 130 yards in the Eagles’ last three games.

Meanwhile, Slay hasn’t played a game since Week 2. He had been dealing with an injury to the same knee that he had surgically repaired late last season, but missed Sunday’s game against the Bengals with a groin injury. He was not on the training pitch on Wednesday. Isaiah Rodgers did an outstanding job replacing Slay, and in the win against the Bengals, he made a turnover by deflecting a pass from Joe Burrow to safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson for an interception.

They already know what a left tackle is Jordan Mailata After recovering, he will miss a third game in a row serious left thigh injury which placed him on the injured reserve list. Mailata was injured in the Eagles’ game Week 6 game against the Cleveland Browns he won’t even be able to return to the field until the team’s Thursday, November 14 game against the Washington Commanders. In all likelihood, Mailata’s absence will extend beyond this match.

Fred Johnson he started the game in place of Mailata, and after a tough Week 7 game against the New York Giants, he performed exceptionally well on Sunday against three-time Pro Bowler Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals. The Eagles did not allow a sack in the match, and Hendrickson only managed two pressures.

The 2-6 Jaguars will be without No. 2 backup Christian Kirk, who suffered a broken collarbone in the team’s Week 8 loss to Green Bay. Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday he thought No. 2 quarterback Travis Etienne (hamstring) and No. 3 receiver Gabe Davis (shoulder) should be ready to play.
