The Atlanta Police Department released two recordings of 911 calls made before 1 p.m A SWAT situation that occurred at the Midtown Four Seasons Hotel on Tuesday afternoon.

During the initial call, a Four Seasons resident manager told a 911 operator that a resident of the apartment building above the hotel had pointed a gun at him when he reported to the 33rd floor to respond to another guest’s complaint.

“The neighbor said the hallway was a mess. I went out to check the mess and the tenant was pointing a gun at me and shouting, ‘Don’t go that way. I don’t want to hurt anyone,” she added. said the manager. “And he’s known for mental episodes, and I need you here right now.”

“His name is Dr. Jay Berger. He is known to have firearms and weapons in his unit, as well as a lot of Nazi paraphernalia,” the manager continued.

The employee went on to say that his team “tried several times to facilitate a suicide prevention intervention, but to no avail” and asked for an ambulance to be sent.

It’s unclear how much time passed between the first and second 911 calls, but another employee called emergency services on Tuesday, asking for information on when someone would respond to the scene.

The 911 operator who answered the employee’s call said she could not provide that information.

What happened at the Midtown Four Seasons Hotel?

On October 29, 2024, Atlanta police reported that a man later identified as Jay Steven Berger was involved in an altercation with a hotel employee and did not respond to law enforcement.

Witnesses say they heard a series of shots inside the hotel. FOX 5 Atlanta obtained photos and video showing a man on the 33rd floor throwing furniture and weapons off the balcony before raising his hands in surrender.

Berger was immediately arrested and taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is expected to face multiple charges, including aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

During the incident, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said: SWAT officer, later identified as Jonathan Caporaso, he was injured and taken to hospital.

At least two other officers exchanged fire with Bergen, but no one else was injured.
