Toronto driver dies after SUV hits a wheel on Highway 401 – CP24

A Toronto driver is dead after her vehicle was struck by a tire on Highway 401 in Cambridge on Wednesday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police say the incident occurred in the eastbound lanes near Cambridge ONRoute.

Police say the van was traveling west when its wheel came off, crossed into the oncoming lane and struck an SUV, which then collided with a transport truck.

According to the police, a 39-year-old woman died on the spot.

There is no word on whether the driver of the van will face charges.

All eastbound lanes of Townline Road were closed for several hours due to the incident.
