Mookie Betts rocks and the Dodgers win another World Series with the former Red Sox star

In the appropriate code, the final match ended in victory Alex Verdugoone of the players the Red Sox acquired from the Dodgers for Betts, who was later traded to the Yankees.

In his first career postseason relief appearance, Walker Buehler threw a perfect ninth inning and struck out Verdugo to end the inning. Betts ran from right field swinging his fist and climbed over his teammates’ pile of pigs in the infield.

What does this trade look like?

The Dodgers sacrificed game four on Tuesday night, using four one-time relief pitchers to keep their bullpen fresh behind Jack Flaherty in game five. Even when his team was losing by an inning after five innings of the fourth game, manager Dave Roberts he stayed with the plan and the Yankees added more in the back of the bullpen.

“I feel great,” Roberts said after the loss.

It hit him hard when Flaherty lasted only 1 inning and allowed four runs. Aaron Judge, unseen in the first four games, hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Jazz Chisholm then took another shot to the right.

The Yankees hadn’t hit consecutive home runs in the World Series since Game 5 of the 1977 series, when Thurman Munson and Reggie Jackson did it at Dodger Stadium.

Fourth game hero Anthony Volpe doubled the lead in the second and scored on a single by Alex Verdugo. Flaherty allowed 18 runs in 22 postseason innings. Maybe he’ll fall into the right price range for the Red Sox.

Giancarlo Stanton struck out Ryan Brasier in the third inning and the Yankees led 5-0. For four innings, Gerrit Cole worked a no-hitter, and the Dodgers went scoreless in eight consecutive innings starting in the fourth.

Open the gates to Dodger Stadium for Game 6. Not so fast.

The Dodgers had no outs in the fifth inning because of two sloppy errors by the Yankees – the umpire dropped a fly ball to center and Volpe made an errant jump from shortstop to third base on the power play.

Cole returned to defeat Gavin Lux and Shohei Ohtani. The inning should have ended with Betts first to the ground, but Anthony Rizzo fielded the ball on the assumption that Cole would cover the base.

Cole assumed Rizzo would take it himself, and Betts had an RBI single.

Freddie Freeman he followed it with a two-run single and Teoscar Hernandez doubled to tie the game and put a rowdy Yankee Stadium on edge.

Max Muncy came up to extend it, but Kiké Hernández drove in and ended Cole’s 38-pitch inning.

The Yankees scored a decisive lead without a hit almost by Red Sox Brusdar Graterol in the sixth inning, as two walks, a grounder and a sacrifice fly were all it took.

Cole didn’t put another runner on base until he walked Freeman with two outs in the seventh inning. He left the match to an ovation, he threw 108 pitches and allowed five unearned runs.

The bullpen was unable to maintain the lead. Tommy Kahnle allowed two singles and a walk to load the bases in the eighth inning. Facing Luke Weaver, Gavin Lux tied the game with a sacrifice fly.

Ohtani reached on a catcher’s interference call to load the bases again. Betts did what was required and sent a high fastball to center.

Betts was 18-of-62 (.290) in 16 postseason games, scoring 14 runs, 16 RBI and 11 walks. Freeman was the honorable most valuable player with four home runs and 12 RBI in five games, but the Dodgers wouldn’t be preparing for the parade without Betts.
