Ryo Kono, the main director of Mob Psycho 100, has died

Today, the anime industry mourns the loss of a talented artist. Ryo Kono, or rather Hiromi Kono, is dead. To the dismay of the fandom, the artist’s family confirmed the tragic news on social media. After all, Kono’s art direction and background art were respected by fans thanks to programs such as Crowd Psychosis 100.

Online, Kono’s nephew Akira informed fans of the situation in a heartbreaking note. You can read them letter below:

“On October 23, my aunt Ryo Kono died suddenly due to suspected gastrointestinal bleeding. I cannot hide my concern at this sudden loss. Every title my aunt worked on was a source of pride for our family. I want to share my sincere thanks (Ryo Kono) for the kindness shown to me in life.”

Ryo Kono is a true master of the anime industry

If you don’t know Ryo Kono, you should know that the artist has quite the resume. They have worked on many top titles ranging from Ninja Scroll Down Psycho-Pass AND Tokyo Ghoul. However, Kono has made a name for itself with titles such as Crowd Psychosis 100. The anime was a success at Studio Bones, with Kono serving as the art director for the project. Their the vision helped turn things around Crowd Psychosis 100 into the visual masterpiece we know today, and fans cannot thank the artist enough for this masterpiece.

Apart from Crowd Psychosis 100Kono has also worked as an art director on projects such as Devilman Crybaby, Carole and Tuesday, Kaiba, Space Dandy, AND Super Cheaters.
