1 person dead, 3 injured in accident on the highway in Opelika

OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) – A man died and three other people were injured after a crash on Interstate 85 in Opelika.

Opelika police responded to a crash on I-85 North between exits 57 and 58 on Thursday around 5:30 p.m. after reports of a collision between a tractor-trailer and a passenger car.

After arriving at the scene, the officers found that a passenger car with four people in it was in the ditch. The 19-year-old passenger was transported to East Alabama Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. His identity has not been revealed.

The other three passengers suffered minor injuries and were also taken to hospital. According to the police, two people traveling in the tractor-trailer were unharmed.
