Residents of Cleat Hill are collecting belongings after a deadly explosion

In July, residents were evacuated after contractors hit a natural gas pocket while drilling a borehole on the property to install a heat pump.

Bradley, chief operating officer of the HSE’s energy division, told the meeting that the “gas network” had been ruled out as a source of gas.

He said the gas “seeped” from the ground and seeped into the property and surrounding area from the drilling site.

Bradley said ways to permanently seal the well are being considered and work is underway to “control escaping gas.”
