BISHOP LAVIS – Police have launched an investigation after six people were shot dead in a mass shooting in Bishop Lavis, Capetown.

According to police findings, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, four men and two women were shot on Kogelberg Street.

11 people were killed in shootings in Cape Town in two days

The incident occurred after a similar incident the day before, at People were shot and another five were wounded in Atlantis, 40 km from the metropolis.

The incidents are believed to be gang-related.

“It is alleged that the victims were returning home from the beach when the attackers opened fire on their three vehicles,” police spokeswoman Novela Potelwa said of the Atlantis incident.

She said police were investigating five murders and five attempted murders and a manhunt had been launched for the suspects.

Following the incident with Bishop Lavis Western Cape police spokesman Colonel Andre Traut he said additional police forces had been dispatched to the scene.

“Two other people were injured during the shooting and the suspects are still at large,” Traut said.

The police opened files on five murders and two attempted murders.

Social media users expressed strong views on the incidents as news of the shootings spread on social media on Friday.

Citizens are calling for tougher police action

Many brought KwaZulu-Natal provincial commissioner-general Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi to the fight, highlighting his “effective” policing tactics.
