Irmo High School student accused of threatening students on social media

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) – An Irmo High School student has been accused of threatening others at school on social media.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Office said the student, whose name was not released because he is under 18, was charged with posting a threatening message in a social media group chat on Tuesday.

The next day, the student was charged with threatening the school.

“The response to this threat from school administrators and law enforcement is one of comprehensive coordination and system operation,” said Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon. “Thank you to the FBI for receiving the initial threat notification and working with us at LCSD. We are pleased that everyone was safe and there were never any disturbances or disruptions on campus.”

The student was released to his mother’s custody and will appear in Lexington County Family Court at a later date.
