An early morning crash brings down power lines and shuts down traffic near Sandersville

JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – Several Jones County residents were left without power Friday morning following a car accident.

According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, at the intersection of Hawkes Road and Erata Road.

The services reported that a passenger car went off the road and collided with a power pole. As a result of the collision, the pole broke and power lines fell onto the road.

No one was injured, JCSO said, but the roadway was blocked. Motorists should find an alternative route and use caution in the area.

Mississippi Power manages power lines along Hawkes Road. The services were called and repaired the broken ropes and the broken pole.
