The latest: Trump and Harris focus on Texas less than 2 weeks before Election Day

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will turn their attention to Texas on Friday, with both presidential candidates holding events in the solidly Republican state. The vice president will join forces with Beyoncé for a rally aimed at highlighting the dangerous medical effects of the state’s stringent abortion ban and placing the blame squarely on Trump.

Meanwhile, the former president will hold a news conference in Austin before meeting with podcaster Joe Rogan later.

President Joe Biden will visit an Arizona reservation as part of a long-promised trip to Indian Country that Democrats hope can boost Harris’ turnout efforts in the key battleground state.

Biden’s visit to the Gila River Indian Community just outside metro Phoenix will be his first visit to Indian Country as president, he promised tribal leaders nearly two years ago.

But Democrats and some economists warn that, especially in times of high mortgage rates, buying a home will make the home purchase even more expensive.

Like Biden, Harris is focusing on Trump as Election Day approaches

As she sees the end of her shortened presidential campaign, Kamala Harris is trying to focus directly on Donald Trump and his threat to democratic institutions, echoing the strategy used by Joe Biden before ending his re-election bid.

You can bet that fear of the former Republican president could rally Harris’s supporters in recent days and shift undecided voters to her side. Harris’ challenge will be to connect philosophical questions about American democracy with the everyday concerns of individual Americans.

That effort will be on full display on Tuesday, when Harris will deliver what her team describes as her closing argument, delivered on the Ellipse, a grassy space adjacent to the National Mall in Washington. This is the same place where Trump stood when he urged his supporters to march on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in what became a bloody attempt to prevent the confirmation of Biden’s electoral victory.
