An 89-year-old woman died in a shooting and attempted suicide at a Pa. nursing home

An 89-year-old woman died Thursday at a Chester County nursing home.

According to Reuters reports, the woman, whose name has not yet been released, was murdered around 10:30 p.m. at the Manatawny Manor nursing home in East Coventry Township. 6ABC AND Philadelphia Inquirer.

Chester County District Attorney Chris de Barrena-Sarobe told 6ABC the 90-year-old man shot the woman in her room and then turned the gun on himself.

The man is currently in hospital, but his condition has not been made public.

“This investigation is currently being treated as a murder/attempted suicide case. There were no other injuries apart from the two people involved in the incident. There is no risk to the public or others in the nursing home,” the Chester County District Attorney’s Office told the Inquirer.
