MoDOT is moving forward with its “Suicide Hill” project and is placing signs warning drivers

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has begun addressing safety concerns surrounding the intersection that northern Missourians call “Suicide Hill”.

Bucklin residents are putting pressure on MoDOT to make the intersection of U.S. Highways 36 and 129 safer.

The town is looked after by local resident Richard Casady.

He told KTVO that MoDOT has posted warning signs in front of the Bucklin interchange, advising drivers of the intersection.

Casady also said he moved the project from a Tier 2 unfunded project to a Tier 1 funded project.

MoDOT will determine the location in 2025 to determine the best way to implement the project in the future.

Casady told KTVO they are still trying to get the budget approved.

Once the scope of the intersection is determined and the budget is approved, the department will begin the bidding process.

KTVO will provide updates as they become available.
