California man arrested after video footage of attempted kidnapping of 11-year-old girl in Los Angeles

WILMINGTON, LOS ANGELES — A new video shows the disturbing sexual assault and attempted kidnapping of a young girl walking down the street in a Los Angeles neighborhood.

The video shows a man following an 11-year-old girl on a street and sidewalk in a residential area.

He comes up behind her and gropes her as she tries to free herself.

Suddenly you hear a neighbor shouting, “Hey, leave her alone!”

The voice startles the man, who lets go of the girl, turns around, and gets into a nearby car. He drove away in a gray Nissan Kicks.

According to Los Angeles police, the incident occurred on Monday around 3:15 p.m.

Police said Jose Jaime, 30, was arrested Wednesday after detectives served a search warrant at his home. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping and his bail was set at $1 million.
