A Camden County man was injured in an officer-involved shooting after failing to comply with law enforcement orders

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – A Camden County man was injured in an officer-involved shooting early Friday morning.

According to Missouri State Highway PatrolAt approximately 2:30 a.m., Camdenton Police Department officers and Camden County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in Camdenton in response to a call reporting a death at the home.

When law enforcement arrived on the scene, 28-year-old Matthew MacDonald emerged from the home with a rifle. Authorities tried to negotiate with MacDonald and get him to drop his weapon, but he refused.

A Camden County deputy then shot MacDonald. He was detained and received medical treatment on site before being taken to hospital. No other injuries were reported.

According to the highway patrol, authorities confirmed there was no dead body in the home as initially reported.

The Missouri Highway Patrol’s Drug and Crime Enforcement Unit is investigating.

MacDonald was charged in an unrelated incident that occurred earlier this month with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal activity. Court documents show he also faces several charges in Illinois.
