How to unlock ALL Mastery camos in Black Ops 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has finally launched and fans dive in and rejoice what the completely new installment of the long-running series has to offer. As with every Call of Duty title, it brought with it completely new maps, weaponmodes, zombies, camouflages, system of all movementsand more.

Mastering camouflage has become an annual tradition for many Call of Duty players. It’s a long, arduous slog that can be incredibly boring, forcing players to sacrifice gaming performance and focus on completing extremely specific challenges.

Whether you are a seasoned veteran who has practiced camouflage many times or you are beginners who want to learn to improve, Camo Grind can be a challenge for anyone willing to take it on.

There are 4 Master Camos available in Black Ops 6 multiplayer: Gold, Diamond, Dark Spine, and Dark Matter. Each of these can essentially be viewed as a level. Gold is level 1 and Dark Matter is level 4. You must reach each of the lower levels before you can climb to the higher levels. It’s a step-by-step process.

At the time of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s release, there are 33 weapons available. To obtain Dark Matter, you must complete each camouflage challenge for all 33 weapons. Before you can progress towards Mastery Camos for a weapon, you must earn 2 of that weapon’s Special Camos, and before you can progress towards a weapon’s Special Camos, you must earn all of its Military Camos.

Weapons in Black Ops 6 are divided into weapon types. Here are all the weapon types in Black Ops 6:

Here is a breakdown of the categories for all 33 weapons:

Step 1: Military camouflages

Most camos are quite simple to unlock. The military camouflage challenges for each assault rifle, submachine gun, shotgun, light machine gun, sniper rifle, sniper rifle, and pistol are exactly the same.

To unlock all military camos for each weapon of this weapon, you need 100 headshots with this weapon. To obtain military camouflage for melee weapons, you must kill 100 people with this weapon. To get the launcher’s military camouflage, you need 50 kills or killstreaks.

Step 2: Special camouflages

Once you have unlocked all military camos for a single weapon (say the XM4 for example), you can now take on the challenge to unlock special camos for that weapon. To continue using the XM4 as an example, the special camos are Muddled and Machina.

To unlock the Muddled camouflage, you must kill 30 XM4 enemies shortly after the run. To unlock the Machina camouflage, you must kill 30 enemies without taking any damage while using the XM4.

Step 3: Gold camouflage

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 gold camouflage on XM4.

Treyarch

Once you unlock special weapon camos, you unlock the opportunity to take on the gold camouflage challenge. For the vast majority of weapons in the game, the challenge in gold camouflage is to get a certain number of double kills with that weapon.

Once you unlock the gold camouflage for a given weapon, you are done with that weapon until you unlock the gold camouflage for every other weapon in that weapon class. For example, once you get the gold camouflage for the XM4, you will no longer need to complete the XM4 camouflage challenges until you get the gold for the other 6 assault rifles.

Step 4: Diamond camouflage

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 diamond camouflage on the XM4 assault rifle.

Treyarch

Once you have unlocked the gold camouflage for each weapon of a specific type (i.e. all 7 assault rifles), you can challenge yourself to unlock the diamond camouflage for each weapon of that type. For the vast majority of weapons in the game, to unlock the diamond camouflage you must kill 3 people without dying a certain number of times, usually 10.

Once you have unlocked the diamond camouflage for a given weapon type, you are done with that weapon type until you have unlocked the diamond for all 33 weapons in the game.

Step 5: Dark spine

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Dark Spine camouflage on the XM4 assault rifle.

Treyarch

Dark Spine is the third level of master camouflages. To unlock the Dark Spine for weapons, you must first unlock the diamond for each weapon and then complete the Dark Spine challenge with the weapon. For the vast majority of weapons in the game, the challenge in the Dark Spine camouflage is to get a certain number of triple kills with that weapon.

Once you have unlocked the Dark Spine for a given weapon, you are done with that weapon until you have unlocked the Dark Spine for all 33 weapons. Once you have unlocked Dark Spine for all 33 weapons, you can start the Dark Matter camouflage challenges.

Step 6: Dark matter

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Dark Matter camouflage on the XM4 assault rifle.

Treyarch

Once you have reached this step, you are in the final stage. To unlock the Dark Matter camouflage for a weapon in Black Ops 6, you must complete the Dark Matter camouflage challenge on that weapon. For the vast majority of weapons in the game, this means getting 5 kills without dying a certain number of times.

As you can see, none of the camos are particularly difficult to unlock, which means the challenge is extremely difficult and requires a lot of skill. Mastering camouflage is more of a test of patience than a traditional test of skill.

You have to be ready to destroy your K/D ratio. You have to be ready to lose a lot of games. You have to accept not having fun for a long time, because while the camouflage grind is fun at times, it’s also completely miserable at times and you just have to accept it and keep grinding.

There are several strategies you can use to make your life easier.

Optimize your weapon for headshots

When reviewing each weapon type for military camouflages, you need 100 headshot kills with a lot of weapons. Getting 100 headshots with an assault rifle or submachine gun may not be that bad, but for shotguns that are only effective in certain scenarios or snipers who require more precise aiming, getting 100 headshots can be a bit of a pain.

When building weapons at a gunsmith, prioritize attachments that will make headshots hit the hardest and make getting a headshot as easy as possible.

I play Hardcore

Hardcore game modes can be an effective way to collect camos, especially headshots, since everyone obviously dies faster. Be careful when using this method though, as you may run into trolls on your team and although the other team will die faster, you will die too. Depending on your playstyle or your willingness to change your playstyle specifically for challenge, hardcore may not actually be faster.

Make the easier weapon first

Progress is the name of the game. Assault rifles, submachine guns and LMGs are generally much easier for me than snipers, melee weapons and launchers. These three weapon types also make up almost 50% of the game’s total weapons (16 out of 33).
