A revenge attack claims lives in Uttar Pradesh

In what may have been a revenge attack, four assailants beat a young man to death in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, according to Saturday’s police reports.

The brutal incident took place on Friday evening near the Shahi police station when 21-year-old Ravi was returning home from a party with his friends. The attackers Aman, Akash, Subhash and Shripal allegedly confronted Ravi, attacking him with sticks and iron rods while shooting fire in the air, causing panic among witnesses. Police noticed that three other people – Deepu, Sonu and Gaurav – sustained injuries in the attack.

Ravi succumbed to serious injuries in hospital, said Additional Superintendent of Police (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra. Authorities suspect the motive was an old dispute involving Ravi’s younger brother, Amit, and the attackers. One suspect is in custody and investigations continue to arrest the others.
