Four security personnel were killed in a suicide attack in northwestern Pakistan

PESHWAR, Pakistan — Police said four Pakistani security personnel were killed and five injured in a suicide attack at a checkpoint in the northwest of the country on Saturday.

The attack took place in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said police officer Amjad Khanand, adding that the condition of the injured was critical.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but suspicions likely lie with the Pakistani Taliban, who operate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and attack security personnel.

Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

In another incident, a remote-controlled bomb hit a military convoy in Tank district, also in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. No casualties were reported.
