A Chicago firefighter was seriously injured while extinguishing a fire in Burnside, according to CFD

CHICAGO (WLS) — CFD said a Chicago firefighter was injured while fighting a fire on the city’s South Side Friday evening.

The fire broke out around 9 p.m. near 90th and Langley in the Burnside neighborhood, according to the fire department.

CFD said the injured firefighter was transported to University Hospitals of Chicago in serious to critical condition.

CFD did not say how the firefighter was injured.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
